About Us
A UNIQUE & LOCAL HISTORY
In 1932, John Miller began a small repair shop – Miller Auto.
In 1959, the business became a Pontiac dealer and shortly after, Tom Miller began working for his father at the family dealership and sold his first car – a 1956 Chevrolet Bel Air. At that same time, the family dealership moved from its humble repair shop beginnings into the downtown St. Cloud location where it stood for nearly 40 years and was commonly known as “The Little Profit Dealer.” Tom acquired a portion of the business from his father in 1974 and by 1985, Tom had acquired full ownership.
In the spring of 1991, Miller Auto became Miller Auto and Marine with the addition of a marine line of products. With the business growing, it was also time to move into a new, more spacious building. In 1998, the Company moved from the downtown location to the Miller Auto Plaza location, previously occupied by the Knox Lumber Company. The land from the old downtown dealership was generously donated by the Miller family to the City of St. Cloud and is now the home of Great River Regional Library.
The Company continued to grow through the 2000s and early 2010s and in 2014, acquired the “old Wal-Mart” property and building adjacent to the Auto plaza. In addition to the main plaza and old Wal-Mart building, we have acquired or constructed many other buildings over time including our state-of-the-art auto body shop, reconditioning center, marine service shop, Buick-GMC sales building, and our two service drives.
In June of 2020, Tom Miller sold the auto side of the business to Gilliland Enterprises and moved Miller Marine to the newly refinished “old Saint Cloud Walmart building”. This new location is the LARGEST indoor marine showroom. It is nearly 120,000 sq. ft., making it a spacious, weather-free environment for year-round boat and pontoon shopping in Minnesota. We carry new models of Bennington pontoons and Starcraft and Smokercraft boats adorned with Yamaha engines. We are proud to be recognized as the World’s Largest Bennington dealer as well as a Yamaha key dealer. Miller Marine also buys and sells used boats from a wide variety of manufactures, such as Alumacraft, Tahoe, Premier, Glastron, Lund, and so many more.
After turning 80 years old in April of 2022, Tom Miller made the tough decision to retire and sell Miller Marine.
In May of 2022, Tom Dehn, a 35-year veteran in the recreational sales industry and owner of Power Lodge Inc. purchased Miller Marine. Dehn’s power sports career has humble roots in a two-stall Quonset on his family farm in Dayton, Minnesota. Since 1990, Power Lodge has expanded into four premier dealership locations, selling and servicing a combination of marine and power sports equipment across all of Minnesota and SW Florida. Dehn and the Power Lodge team are thrilled to be joining forces with Miller Marine.
Dehn and the team at Miller Marine are looking forward to maintaining and exceeding the high level of customer satisfaction that has set them apart in the marine and powersports industries.
